Pieter van Midwoud studied forest and nature conservation policy at
Wageningen University (The Netherlands). He wrote his master thesis
at the Ministry of Agriculture on the credibility of the FLEGT process
(on the illegal trade of timber), comparing it with similar cases in
the diamond and meat sectors.
He worked for UBS Brinson in Argentina
and was a youth representative in the United
Nations Forum on Forests during his studies, advocating for education
as an important tool for sustainable forest management.
Pieter van Midwoud
has been the head of the
CarbonFix secretariat since 2007.

Holger Feser studied law at the Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg in Germany
and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
During his
studies he assisted Prof. Richard Paisley from the University of British
Columbia in developing a training manual for the UN FAO concerning transboundary
water conflicts. Encouraged by this fascinating field his focus today is on
international and domestic environmental law.
Holger Feser has been actively working for CarbonFix since 2007.

Kate Shippam studied Environmental Governance at
Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg. Her masters’ thesis was an analysis of Canadian
climate policy with a focus on the regulation of industrial GHG emissions. Previously she studied Psychology at the
University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Her experience includes working in Cambodia
with the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme, assisting communities in developing local environmental projects.
She has been working
in Public Relations for CarbonFix since 2008.

Benedikt Seher studied Mathematics, Linguistics and Spanish Literature
at the University of Freiburg. His master thesis on the comparison of
time in Venezuelan and German societies received an award of excellence
from the philological faculty in 2008.
At the University of Freiburg,
he worked as a research assistant in FRIAS (Freiburg Institute for
Advanced Studies).
He has been working
in Public Relations for CarbonFix since 2008.

Prof. Roland Irslinger studied forest science at the
Freiburg University. His studies were conducted in Sweden, in Austria
and in various Latin America countries. After his graduation in 1972,
he worked for the Forest Research Institute in Freiburg and for the
Forestry Commission of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
In 1980 he
became Professor at the Rottenburg University for Applied Forestry in
the field of applied climatology, climate protection, geology, soils
and eco-management. His research was focusing a.o. on reforestation
within the Pró-Mata project in Brazil.
In recent years, he gave various
guest lectures on forest ecology and nutrient cycles in Finland and
Spain. Apart from this, he is participating in the development of a
bilingual literature database in the fields of forest, landscape, and
soil. He is the founder of the publishing company Steinbeis Transfer
Center and publisher of the Online-Journal Pro Araucária Online.
Prof.
Irslinger became president in 2008.

Moriz Vohrer graduated in 2006 from the Ecole Nationale des Eaux
et Forêsts in Nancy, France with a French-German double Diploma in
forest sciences.
Since then he has worked for the company global-woods
to manage forest projects in Africa and Latin America. During his
studies he conducted work experiences a.o. at Joanneum Research
(Austria), the Timber-Forest-Trust (Vietnam), the GreenBeltMovement
(Kenia) and DPI Forestry Queensland (Australia), and was focal point of
the International Forestry Students (IFSA) on the UNFCCC process.
Since
2007 Mr. Vohrer has been member of the technical board and has
been elected as its chairman.

Dr. Robert Scoz graduated in 1991 as Ingeniero Forestal at the National University La Plata in Argentina. He then became research assistant for the field of forest mensuration and inventories.
In 1994 he moved to Freiburg, Germany. He continued studying and worked for the Forest Service of Freiburg. In 1997 he started his PhD in cooperation with the FAO (Background Study for the Global Fibre Supply Study at FAO). After his graduation in 2002 he continued working for the faculty of Forest and Environmental sciences at the Freibug University as post-graduate. Since 2008 he is responsible for the National Forestry Research Program at the National Agricultural Research Institute (INIA) in Uruguay.
Dr. Scoz joint the technical board in 2007.
