Criteria of the German ETA accept CarbonFix credits

The German Emissions Trading Authority, which is responsible in Germany for the implementation of emissions trading and the project based mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, has released criteria for organisations involved in the voluntary balancing of their emissions.

The criteria addresses a range of issues in which organisations should comply with. These include:
  1. Preventing emissions is a priority.
  2. Providing realistic emission calculations.
  3. Verifying this information by third party certifiers.
  4. Balancing the remaining emissions with high quality carbon credits.
Credits generated according to the CarbonFix Standard (CFS) meet these criteria for balancing the emissions as credits certified according to the CFS are 'real, additional, measurable, permanent, independently verified, unique and have sustainable development benefits'.

Companies following this criteria can now balance their emissions by credits generated in projects using the CarbonFix Standard.

More information on the criteria can be found at www.dehst.de/cln_162/...
