Kikonda Forest Reserve project under
validation
The first pilot project that is running
for CarbonFix certification, the Kikonda Forest Reserve in Uganda, has
submitted all its documents to the technical board of CarbonFix for
validation. When a project successfully passes this validation process, it
requests an independent certification body to conduct a field check. In its
preparation, the verification body will also read through the submitted
documents. Thus, due to the
double check system of CarbonFix, in-depth knowledge about the projects is
obtained and each document is reviewed by four experts, ensuring quality
control.
Since the Kikonda Forest Reserve is a
pilot project, two members of the technical board
will validate the documents to enhance the quality of the validation
process. CarbonFix expects that a field check of the certifying body
will be accomplished by the end of May.
New partners joint CarbonFix
CarbonFix is happy to announce that in
the past month new institutions have expressed their support to the CarbonFix
Standard. Among them are Friends of the Earth in Togo, the retailers CO 2handel.de, Greenbalance, and the consultancy service Environmental Services inc. The
latter can provide assistance to projects that want to prepare themselves for
CarbonFix certification. If your institution is also interested in supporting, collaborating,
or learning more about the work of CarbonFix, either as broker, consultant or
in any other way, please get in touch with the Secretariat.
First buying of VER’s possible by July
The VER futures from CarbonFix certified
projects can be purchased via the website of CarbonFix, directly from the
project developer. VER futures will be available from July onwards, as CarbonFix
expects its first project to be certified by the end of May. Everybody who has
subscribed to our newsletter, or asked us otherwise, will get notified about
this. Before obtaining the VER futures, one can inform themselves easily about the
different aspects of the projects like permanence measures, risks,
socio-economic and environmental co-benefits.
If you or your company would also like
to have a notification when the first VER futures can be purchased,
please let us know by contacting the secretariat by either an email or a phone call.
