Panama | CO2OL Tropical Mix is a project of the ForestFinance Group. The project area amounts to over 380 ha on the Pacific coast of Panama. Degraded pastureland is being reforested with a mix of native tree species and teak. Up to 100 employees are taking care of the forests.

Reforestation of degraded pastureland with a mixture of native tree species and Teak in Panama, to sequester carbon and produce fine tropical hardwoods.

ForestFinance offers the opportunity for investors worldwide to own a forest that yields a high production of timber and is ecologically and socially sustainable at the same time. In the past, the source for tropical timber has been the primary rainforest or large-scale monoculture plantations. The ForestFinance model is based on combining timber production with biodiversity protection and ecosystem restoration. These forests offer a natural habitat for native animals and plants, protect and enrich the soil, save and filter water and contribute to the mitigation of the green house effect.

The reforestations of ForestFinance are situated in Panama, a country with a high political stability, the US Dollar as main currency, excellent infrastrucure and good quality soils.
ForestFinance chooses their reforestation areas after a close examination of the soil quality. The land was originally covered with primary tropical rainforests, converted to agricultural land and afterwards used for cattle ranging. Now, ForestFinance is re-transforming this land into ecological sound forests.

CO2OL is a brand of ForestFinance and specialized in generating voluntary Carbon Credits from sustainable reforestation projects.

US Scientists visit CO2OL “Tropical Mix”
Last week, assistant professor of geography at the Richmond School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Mary Finley-Brook and two of her students, Thomas Curt and Carrie O’Rourke, visited “Tropical Mix”.
The reason for their visit was to learn about the special social and ecological method of reforesting pasture land. Yaels Camacho, one of our forestry engineers in Panama, explained the social and ecological impact of our carbon forestry project at the fincas on site.

To ensure maximum growth it´s necessary to clean out the area at specified intervals of time until the trees have a certain hight.

High quality tree nurseries are responsible for high quality seedlings.Seedlings of various native species are prepared for planting.
The endangered ocelot found new habitats in the afforested areas of ForestFinance.
Even after three years the trees achieve often more than six meters and you can find a little forest, an own ecosystem with all kinds of flowers and animals.
There are still large areas of primary forests in whole Panama. To protect them is one of our targets.
Close to our projects in Darién are villages by the Embera, an indigenous tribe in this region. Many of our workers are members of the Embera.
The huge biodiversity around our reforestations inures to the benefit of the iguana too.
Every single tree, every single credit and investment makes a difference to worlds climate. Come and help us to reduce CO2 emissions and make a change happen.
We have many years of experience in tropical forestry as you can see on our oldest finca Madera Fina. Many visitors who have seen teh 14 year old project have been overwhelmed by this experience.
High qualified engineers work in our forests and check the growth and healthiness of the trees.
Different social programs have been started to get the locals involved. Our football team composed of workers os only one example for successful integration.
All reforestations have a good accessibility so you can check the state and have the possibility to intervene in case of any emergency.
The first cleaning of the areas is one part of the preparation for reforestations. It´s very hard work and takes a lot of time until the time has come to plant.
About four times faster than in Europe the trees grow in the tropes and thats why these regions are predestinated for reforestation projects.
The guys on our projects are used to hard work but here they get maximum possible support in all matters of interests.
The main part of our Fincas were pastures and if our experts visit new areas they always see the same old picture. Cows, Cows, Cows and hectares of stubbed land. Lets join hands together!
